Glen Devon Home from Home

Glen Devon can support individuals over the age of fifty living with memory difficulties due to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or a dementia. Care is provided in small homely groups, with a choice of communal rooms (three lounge diners and a conservatory) for relaxation. In addition, there are several small seating areas, decorated in different period themes to stimulate reminiscence, dotted throughout the home, encouraging residents to sit a while and engage with the environment as they travel through the home.

There is a Home kitchen, for residents’ use, promoting the continued use of simple life long skills, with support. Dining and community events are organised suited to the varying care needs of individuals.

Personal Living Spaces

Glen Devon offers a range of options for individuals and couples who are considering residence. All personal living spaces have en-suite facilities for your comfort and privacy, a private wc, and the added luxury of a walk-in, assisted shower in some rooms. There are also assisted bathrooms for residents that prefer a relaxing bath.

Colour and theme have been used to assist way finding. Non-reflective floor coverings, memory boxes and individually painted doors in the Garden View wing lead into colour co-ordinated bedrooms, each with television points and telephone links available. Individual private living spaces can be furnished to the resident’s taste. Decorated and painted handrails guide residents through the hallways to the communal rooms.

From Indoors to Outdoors

Glen Devon provides a secure and specially designed outdoor environment to the rear of the property. Planned by a professional garden designer in consultation with Vivienne, Paul, staff, and residents it has specialist safety flooring utilised to promote independence and minimise risk of injury from falls. The pathway links the inside to the outside via a circular pathway route. As residents follow the path that connects the two patios to the heart of the home there are recessed seating areas to encourage people to sit and relax.

Engagement with the garden is encouraged year-round, weather permitting. Views of a garden are available from all ground floor communal rooms. The garden area also provides a Beach Hut style outdoor cafe, garden furniture, bespoke potting table, and a range of plants and planters for the green fingered. There is even a retractable washing line for residents’ use.

Garden View wing ground floor bedrooms have personal patio door access to the secure garden walkway and patios.
